The European Area Company’s wide-field VISTA telescope has been monitoring the LMC and its smaller sibling, the aptly named Small Magellanic Cloud, for greater than a decade, utilizing the telescope’s near-infrared imaginative and prescient to see by way of intervening gasoline and dirt to map out stars populating the centre of the galaxy.
