A galaxy being stripped of stars because it plows by a cluster – Astronomy Now

The blue glow is definitely made up of scorching younger stars and large streams of fuel being torn away from the galaxy in a course of often known as ram strain stripping, a drag-like power appearing on an object shifting by a fluid. On this case, the fluid is the superheated fuel the galaxy is plowing by within the Norma Cluster close to the middle of the Nice Attractor, a area of house the place concentrated gravity is pulling whole galaxy clusters towards it. The Milky Manner and the Native Group of galaxies are all headed in that path. This picture of ESO 137-001 was captured in 2014.
